Foxtail millet khichadi is a nutri-basket of protein and other essential nutrients. This millet can be offered in any season and perfect for babies above the age of 6months 🙂
Lets ditch the regular khichadi and switch to millet khichadis to give our baby the goodness of REAL INDIAN FOOD.



INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup foxtail millet
- 1/3 cup moong dal
- 1 cup of finely chopped onions
- 1 cup of finely chopped veggies
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, coriander powder
- Salt (for babies above 12month)
- 1/4 tea spoon sambhar masala
- 1 tomato finely chopped
- 1/4 tsp chilly powder (for babies above 10months)
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- heeng
- curry leaves
- Ghee
METHOD
- Measure millet and lentil and wash and soak them separately. Millet for 6-8hrs, Lentil for 30min to 1hr
- Heat ghee
- Add mustard seeds, heeng & curry leaves. Let them splutter
- Add onions. Let it cook till onion becomes slightly pink.
- Add veggies (you can use any seasonal vegetable of choice) and cook it until it becomes soft.
- Ghee
- Add salt & spices.
- Add washed and drained foxtail millet and moong dal.
- Continue to sauté for another 2-3 minutes
- Add 3 cups of water
- Cover and cook on low flame till the grains become soft. Alternatively you can cook in a pressure cooker, it takes 2-3 whistles to cook.
